Eden

The adventurous exotic garden

Video shows: 80 plants in a garden 20m long with planting space 1.2m wide, on each side

In this semi-tropical garden, bold shaped leaves & bright coloured flowers dominate. Lush, dramatic and large leaves contrast with vibrant flowers. An exciting oasis.

Eden planting style

With wonderful, dramatic leaves and architectural shapes, these are plants that will have your neighbours guessing, as they are not seen in a typical garden. ‘Subtropical’ plants are an important part of the mix and although they may look like they belong on a tropical island paradise, they are hardy enough to thrive in our climate.

Bold pops of colour are a given with this collection; reds, oranges, yellows, pinks and even the odd colour clash in the leaves and the flowers. These striking colours can be designed to bring interest to your garden year round. The planting is relatively dense which gives visual impact, whilst enabling the larger plants at the back of the bed to cleverly provide canopy shade for the plants in front.

Signature plants

  • Kniphofia

Truly exotic perennials, with fiery bottlebrush flower heads on erect bright green stems, surrounded by narrow strapping leaves. Also known as Red Hot Pokers, this sculptural plant makes a statement in any garden.

  • Dryopteris

Hardy ferns with vivid green feathery fronds arranged in a distinctive vase shape. Their luminous green foliage in summer turns to a beautiful bronze colour in autumn. A great plant for texture.

  • Fatsia

A must have for an exotic garden. With huge palm shaped glossy green leaves this plant brings a sense of drama.
